The film takes place in the late 90s. The main character undertakes to organize a competition for young musicians. Who should become the winner of the competition, decided in advance. The performances are attended by unknown musicians representing a variety of musical genres and trends. They have different views on both life and music. Of course, the competition does not go as planned.

A young married woman Jelena finds about her husband's car accident from an unknown stranger named Vlatko, but also that he wants to be visited by his mistress rather than her. The encounter with her father, an ex-politician, will be another shock, but that's when she accepts Vlatko's courtship without being able to see his self-interested nature.

Unfinished pre-Code era film consisting of three sections with past performers from the stage and the vaudeville circuit, then-present-day performers and up-and-coming performers. Musical excerpts were later used in Broadway to Hollywood (1933), Nertsery Rhymes (1933), and Roast-Beef and Movies (1934). "The Lock Step" was later used in That's Entertainment! III (1994)

Scene of the Crime is the title of a mystery anthology series that aired in 1991 and 1992 on CBS, as part of the Crimetime After Primetime late-night block. Rather than employing different actors each episode, the program had a regular cast who played different characters in each story. Series regulars included Stephen McHattie, and producer Stephen J. Cannell appeared onscreen to introduce each story.
